Cast assay in patients with allergy to betalactams with LTT

Allergic reactions to betalactams are common.In this hypersensitivity to penicillin occur in 0.7-10% of drug treatments. The reliable diagnosis of allergy to betalactams is particulatly difficult to achive. The results demonstrate that 17% of patients had positive LTT and 13% of patients CAST to penicillin G. It is suggested that CAST may be a useful test for diagnosing hypersentitivity to betalactams.
