Role of hepatitis C virus (HCV) and hepatitis B virus (HBV) on hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) development and mortality in Child – Pugh C cirrhotic patients
It is well demostrated that the most known oncogenic factors for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) development are chronic hepatits B (HBV) and chronic hepatitis C (HCV) infection. The association between HBV and HCV relationship between HCC was established by epidemiological studies, geographical distributions of viruses and incidence of HCC, as well as by the explanation of their oncogenic mechanism in HCC development. The aim of our study was to establih the cause of mortality in Child- Pugh C cirrhotic 123 patients who were treated and followed up during two years period in University Hospital , Merkur Zagreb, and to found out role of hepatitis B (HBV) and hepatitis C (HCV) in progression of cirrhosis hepatits and hepatocellular carcinoma.
