Prinos Tome Matića hrvatskoj glazbenoj historiografiji
Among writings by Tomo Matić, a few of them attract interest of musicologists, especially music historiographers. That kind of attention is mostly displayed in the essay Muzika i pjevanje u isusovačkom kolegiju i gimnaziji u Požegi (Music and Singing in Jesuite Collegium and Gymnasium in Požega), published in music journal Sveta Cecilija in 1936. In the time Matić's work was preceded by few rare studies of the kind. Among them are of particular interest articles by Janko Barle, also published in Sveta Cecilija (1908 and 1912). Today, Lovro Županović has dealt most with this matter. In the mentioned article by Tomo Matić, Muzika i pjevanje u isusovačkom kolegiju i gimnaziji u Požegi (Music and Singing in Jesuite Collegium and Gymansium in Požega), he brings actually the facts on music-historiographical materials as a whole, making quotations of the sources very carrefully. That approach of Tomo Matić presents him being a researcher whose work is basically oriented and strongly refferd to sources themselves. In the same time, Tomo Matić elaborates his subject as the part of the wider cultural and social situation. His work deserves the new readings and comparison with the recent works of music historiographers.
