ERP implementation approach selection, based on a process classification model

In this paper we discuss how a process classification facilitates the selection of the level up to which two major activities in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) implementation projects, i.e. business process change and module customization, should be performed. The process classification we propose is based on two criteria: (a) the dependence of business processes on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and (b) the significance of processes with regard to mission achievement contribution. The proposed process classification model is illustrated in the higher education domain.
