Pattern Matching and Full Text Search in SQL

The presentation deals with various pattern matching techniques in databases (especially PostgreSQL) including LIKE, ILIKE, SIMILAR TO, and regular expressions. It then goes on and addresses the problems of pattern matching which can be solve by full text search techniques by using the match operator, two additional datatypes (tsvector and tsquery) and result ranking. In the end aggregation functions are described to allow for statistical analysis of the acquired data.
